JP Morgan Chase | If These Walls Could Talk
JP Morgan Chase's Community Development Banking invests in affordable housing and community development projects across the US. If These Walls Could Talk is a project that highlights real voices of those who have experienced positive impacts from that investment throughout the country. This is accomplished through sit down video interviews with a few community members from the different cities they travel to.
The way these shoot days work is the community member would come in and meet the entire crew (video and JPMC), then would start doing an activity with the director where they would also have an informal chat about their journey. This part would culminate with them writing a single word on a red brick - if these walls could talk they would say (insert word). From here, they would go and have their sit down interview discussing their journey more. Finally, after this, they go and have their portraits done with and without their brick.
When the project came to Philly, I was brought on as the photographer, capturing behind the scenes moments of the day and also doing the portraits following the interview. For the portraits, I had a mobile studio set up in one of the other rooms, away from production to help keep that area clear. It was a simple set up, an Amaran 100x through a 36" octobox, using the brick wall as the backdrop.
It was an amazing day hearing the inspiring stories of those who came through and shared. The Cali based video crew was amazing to work with and I was also able to act as a local rental house for much of the G&E gear, minimizing what they had to travel with. I was also really excited to work with continuous lighting for portraits.
